The Times and the Sunday Times yesterday revealed their new-look websites which from next month will only be available to those who pay. The so-called paywall (pay to view) has been hotly debated amongst the broadsheets, some of whom had produced their newspapers online alongside printed copies. The Financial Times and the Wall Street Journal have already been running paywalls for their online productions.
The other News Corporation's productions, The Scum and the News of the Screws will begin introducing online pay productions of their newspapers soon.
James Murdoch, chair and C.E. of News Corps Europe said that as far back as the 1710 Statute of Anne, enshrining copyright, the rights of author and creator have been recognised and protected.
